Joanna Culley - Pet Portrait Artist - Welcome
I would like to welcome you to my pet portrait website and start by giving you a brief introduction to my art and animal history and experience. I was always drawing as a child, so after school, I went on to study art. I gained a place at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design at 18 years old. It was here I was first able to combine my love of animals and wildlife with study and illustration.
After I completed a B.T.E.C at Bournemouth in Natural History Illustration, I went on to study Scientific and Medical Illustration at Middlesex University, where I completed a degree course. Therefore, with the view that understanding anatomy assists in creating that 'realism' effect, I became driven to continue very detailed work, not only continuing medical art but using this technique to bring a lifelike quality to a painting and especially pet portraits. Therefore, having already built up a portfolio of my own pets, with a few pet portrait commissions under my belt, these samples were used as the basis for my website, allowing me to reach a wider audience.
My portfolio now has over 300 pet portraits, and my website is increasing in size. The website aims to provide information to people who wish to capture forever, the beauty and personality of the special friends in their lives. Whether a dog, cat, horse or anything furry! I can professionally complete a painting for you in your choice of size and medium. For example watercolour, graphite, or pastel. Whatever your preference, I am always happy to produce your own pet portrait in any of these mediums.
I also continue to work as a medical artist, I also exhibit, paint animal wildlife and create hand made greeting cards and prints. Its great to have this variety of work. As a professional freelance artist, its also great to have these extra avenues of work, and of course I am very happy to be so busy all the time. To view my medical art, please go to www.medical-artist-com.
Please enjoy the website, and I hope that you will be inspired to commission me, Joanna, to produce art for you. You will find information and guidance on how to request a commission for a pet portrait or piece of wildlife or animal inspired art. You will find the process easy and I can assure you, that working with me, you will receive a professional service..
